by Suzann Thompson | Mar 16, 2015 | Knitting, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

It was at the Interweave Knitting Lab, October 2012, in Manchester, New Hampshire. I was teaching a class about how to knit mosaic patterns and design your own. The workshop participants were enthusiastic and they were close to completing our first mosaic sample: a...

Pieces of Antelope Horns

by Suzann Thompson | Mar 5, 2015 | Art Quilt, Knitting, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

The day I learned about foundation piecing was a great day in my wall hanging career. The book that taught me was Precision Pieced Quilts Using the Foundation Method by Jane Hall and Dixie Haywood. The technique solved some problems I encountered while trying to piece...

A Flower Called Antelope Horns

by Suzann Thompson | Mar 5, 2015 | Art Quilt, Crochet, Knitting, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

“They look like aliens,” said my husband, when he saw this photo, blown up to poster size. It’s a very close-up view of Antelope Horns milkweed, one of the coolest flowers I love. We saw this particular plant on my parents’ place and I believe...

by Suzann Thompson | Feb 18, 2015 | Crochet, Crochet Charm Lace, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

We’ll have a lot to celebrate on March 17 this year. Naturally we’ll be wearing green (or our color of choice) for St. Patrick’s Day. Then we can mosey down to the nearest newsstand for a copy of the Spring 2015 issue of Interweave Crochet. One of my...

Throwback Thursday: Cherry Picking Vest

by Suzann Thompson | Feb 12, 2015 | Knitting, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Moths have good taste. They chose to place their offspring on my beloved cherry sweater, which I knitted by hand from Sasha Kagan’s Big and Little Sweaters. On their way to adulthood, the baby moths nibbled more holes than I wanted to repair. So I put the cherry...

A year ago I was breathing a bunch of sighs of rel A year ago I was breathing a bunch of sighs of relief, because I had finished an intense crochet design project. I designed, crocheted, wrote patterns, and took step-by-step pictures of a bunch of flowery bookmarks. Most of the ones in the picture made it into a kit published by Quarto.

The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, T The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, TX, close at 4 PM today. There’s time, if you live close by, to visit all the quilts and the Country Store, where you can find lots of previously loved items for sale. There was a pretty good stack of doilies yesterday, priced to move. Somebody bought a couple or three, and I don’t know what happened after that. Maybe there are some left.

I put the bookcase back in my bedroom and loaded the books back on the lower shelves. The poor tissue box sits on the floor now, because I am not going to put anything on top of that mosaic, if I can help it! Thank you, Ella and Wren!❤️❤️
