Leaf Crochet-Along for October

by Suzann Thompson | Oct 9, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

As a child, I thought autumn was a pleasant myth. Leaves changing color? We didn’t see so much of that in Central Texas. The trees would be green, then one night the temperatures would dip below freezing, and the next day their leaves would be brown and crinkly....

Taos Wool Festival 2008

by Suzann Thompson | Oct 8, 2008 | Knitting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion, Workshops

Through an unforeseen scheduling conflict, I went to the Taos Wool Festival last week without my family. Luckily for me, a friend came along instead. We had a great time! I taught two classes, which were pleasant as usual. Five people joined me for “Color...

Stitches from the Past

1984 This pretty pottery basket is signed “P. Murray” and dated 1984. I bought it because it had the look of thread crochet. I think Ms. Murray pressed a piece of crochet into the clay before she shaped it into a basket. Sunnydaze, one of the Ravelry...

Mumsy Heads At the end of April 2007, I turned in the last of the flowers and projects for Crochet Bouquet, and I was one happy gal! Linda Kopp, my editor and Stacey Budge, the art director at Lark Books spread out all the flowers and leaves, and believe me, there...

Crochet Homecoming

by Suzann Thompson | Sep 17, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

It was a riot of green and gold last Friday night at Dublin’s homecoming football game. Girls and boys of all ages wore gorgeous mums. One girl had a crocheted mum. Yes, it was Eva! I suggested a homecoming corsage with a crocheted mum as one of the projects in...

Homecoming Mumsy How To

by Suzann Thompson | Sep 16, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Life, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Many thanks to my cousin Phyllis for showing me how to make a homecoming mum. She was appalled at how much homecoming mums cost, so she and her daughters and their dates would get together before the homecoming football game and make their own. Their black and gold...

A year ago I was breathing a bunch of sighs of rel A year ago I was breathing a bunch of sighs of relief, because I had finished an intense crochet design project. I designed, crocheted, wrote patterns, and took step-by-step pictures of a bunch of flowery bookmarks. Most of the ones in the picture made it into a kit published by Quarto.

The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, T The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, TX, close at 4 PM today. There’s time, if you live close by, to visit all the quilts and the Country Store, where you can find lots of previously loved items for sale. There was a pretty good stack of doilies yesterday, priced to move. Somebody bought a couple or three, and I don’t know what happened after that. Maybe there are some left.

I put the bookcase back in my bedroom and loaded the books back on the lower shelves. The poor tissue box sits on the floor now, because I am not going to put anything on top of that mosaic, if I can help it! Thank you, Ella and Wren!❤️❤️
