by Suzann Thompson | Sep 30, 2017 | Life, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Last time I reported on my Christmas in July project, the Santa Train was being chased by a headless snowman. Poor guy! At least he got a head (ahead?) in Week 9, but it would be two more weeks before the snowman was finally able to climb aboard the train. The...

by Suzann Thompson | Sep 29, 2017 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Crochet Garden, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

My linen jacket needed something. It needed to be more interesting, beautiful, cool. What would a crochet flower lady do? Break out the No. 10 crochet cotton, choose a flower from Crochet Bouquet, and embellish the lapels! If you read my previous post, you may...

by Suzann Thompson | Aug 6, 2017 | Life, Quilting and Crafting, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Week 2 of working on my Christmas felt kit ended with sequinning and sewing red stripes to the white rail that will eventually be sewn to the bottom edge of the train. Week 3 was all about sequinning and sewing red stripes, too, because there were so many of them. It...

by Suzann Thompson | Jul 28, 2017 | Crochet, Doily Adventure, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Now that the Celebrate Doilies exhibit is up and running. I’m taking a break to make other stuff. Yep, I can’t stop making. We live in the country, and no one is close enough to peek into our windows. That’s why in the three and a half years we have...

I’m proud to have served as a CKC Board member since 2018. The Maria C. Vallejo Lace Collection has been years in the making, with a lot of hard work from experts on our Board of Directors. I’m not an expert in collections, but I got to help out as a proofreader. We all pitched in.

I was never very fond of this bedtime prayer, wher I was never very fond of this bedtime prayer, where children had to think about the possibility of dying in their sleep. But I have to admit this filet crocheted version of the prayer with pictures of children was Impressive. You can find the pattern for sale at vintageknitcrochet.net – swipe to see.
Seen at the Austin Citywide Vintage Sale, where Michael Longcrier has his many vintage embroideries, bandannas, quilts, crochet, and clothing piled on tables. He used to sell by the pound, but now he casts his experienced eye over your pile of stuff, and makes mental calculations to arrive at a price.

Political Circus, by Misty M. Cole, was part of 50 Political Circus, by Misty M. Cole, was part of 50 Years of Great Quilts at @quiltfestival last week. It’s a delightful riff on Eveline Foland’s Giddap the Very Democratic Donkey and Ararat the Elephant designs from the 1930s. They’re oh so familiar to me, bc I made them a few years ago. It was great to see this fun new interpretation of fun old designs. Swipe to see more.
