Welcome Yarn and Fabric Lovers!

by Suzann Thompson | Mar 6, 2005 | Art Quilt, Crochet, Knitting, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

When I was a kid, my dad, Alan Thompson, would shake his head and say, “There’s a right way, a wrong way, and a Suzie way.” I sure didn’t want to do anything the wrong way, and usually we already knew how to something the so-called right way. I...

The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, T The Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville, TX, close at 4 PM today. There’s time, if you live close by, to visit all the quilts and the Country Store, where you can find lots of previously loved items for sale. There was a pretty good stack of doilies yesterday, priced to move. Somebody bought a couple or three, and I don’t know what happened after that. Maybe there are some left.

In the summer of 2025, @let_me_ellaborate and @wre In the summer of 2025, @let_me_ellaborate and @wren.nests created a mosaic of willow-pattern china shards for the top shelf of a little bookcase. Their work helped me muster the energy to repaint the bookcase, and later to grout the mosaic.
I put the bookcase back in my bedroom and loaded the books back on the lower shelves. The poor tissue box sits on the floor now, because I am not going to put anything on top of that mosaic, if I can help it! Thank you, Ella and Wren!❤️❤️

Comanche Mercantile on the square in Comanche, TX, Comanche Mercantile on the square in Comanche, TX, has a charming and interesting variety of textiles in the way-back room. That’s where I saw this lavender pillowcase, appliquéd with the crocheted letters H E R, and trimmed with crochet. It sent me on a deep dive to learn more about His & Hers pillowcases.

I’ve been trying for a long time to get back to blogging. Hand-embellished pillowcases were a reasonably quick and fun subject to write about.

I hope you will read about them here:
