A Little at a Time Gets the Job Done

by Suzann Thompson | Jul 5, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Crochet Charm Lace, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

We’ve all heard that every journey begins with a single step. It’s true, sometimes actually, but often metaphorically, because many journeys do not involve moving from one place to another. It would be more accurate to say, “Every journey begins with...

Leaves, Leaves, and Ends

by Suzann Thompson | Jun 30, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Eighty leaves. That’s about how many my Roses Cape will need. Just thinking of crocheting eighty leaves made my shoulders droop. When I broke the job down to four leaves a day for 20 days, it didn’t seem so bad. And now, I’m over half-way through!...

by Suzann Thompson | Jun 21, 2008 | Crochet, Crochet Bouquet, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

Marilyn was in my Slip Stitch Color Knitting class at Taos a couple of years ago. She knitted her class samples with the most beautiful variegated yarn. She dyed it herself! She was in my button class at Estes Park, too. She travels around with an RV and her doggies,...

Estes Park Wool Market 2008-1

by Suzann Thompson | Jun 17, 2008 | Crochet, Life, Retro Blog Post, TextileFusion

We loved the Estes Park Wool Market! The weather was cool and nice. We had mountains all around. The smell of food made our mouths water. And then there was the yarn! Our first view of the Wool Market was these white tents, which turned out to be the animal tents. The...

Our Black Hawthorn has haws! I haven’t seen this m Our Black Hawthorn has haws! I haven’t seen this many on one tree, ever. Apparently, we could make jelly with these berries, but we have to remove the numerous seeds first. Like apples, haw seeds contain cyanide compounds. I think I will just enjoy looking at them.
Swipe to see this tree’s flowers from earlier this year (April 23).

That's the title of a mid-20th century radio series playing from time to time on SiriusXM Classic Radio. What does that have to with argyle socks?

Most of us who grew up in the US have pledged our Most of us who grew up in the US have pledged our allegiance to the flag of the United States of America hundreds of times. We pledge our allegiance to the flag of a nation with liberty and justice for all.

That means liberty and justice are not exclusively for the people we like best, but for everybody else in the United States as well.

So let’s honor our pledge by voting for candidates who will protect liberty and justice for all, because we have pledged our allegiance to that concept over and over again.

All means all.

Wow! This lovely collar* comes with a Certificate Wow! This lovely collar* comes with a Certificate of Authenticity by some supposed authority in the UK, certifying that it is real, authentic Irish crochet.

Do you see the problem with this?

It goes to show that some claims on Certificates of Authenticity are not true. And that not all people calling themselves experts are what they claim to be.

It certainly is beautiful lace, just not Irish Crochet or any other kind of crochet.

* It really is a collar, but I wanted you to be able to see the details of its construction. Should have taken a picture of the whole thing. Maybe next time.
